On our course, Neurodivergence and Whole-Person Health

“I can’t recommend it enough. Solidly research based, fully referenced, delivered from a place of lived experience with profound awareness for the intersectionalities at play in this space. I’m really grateful that PBHP [Plant-Based Health Professionals UK] gave me the opportunity to find Kana – I have learned so much”

“I think the most meaningful part of the course for me was getting to know the very current and recent aspects of research.”

“I talked with my mum yesterday about some different aspects of the health session that have affected her life, and opened up a discussion about the association between neurodivergence and chronic fatigue. My mum wants to buy your book when you write one Kana!”

"I really appreciate all of that, Kana. It was a lot. Following the course, I appreciate more about how much it takes for you to pull that together. So I know it's all in your wonderful mind, but really appreciate all of the effort conveying what's in your wonderful mind into ours."

“I find it really useful to start to have an analytical framework for these experiences- to help normalise, contextualise, and strategies from. For me that is such a powerful gift to share with neurodivergent people.

I also really like the emphasis on strengths based analyses alongside experienced challenges.”

“I like Kana’s holistic approach : we are not just a brain, a body or emotions seen separately. We are a whole in our unique (but also brilliant & super interesting!) way of being in the world! I really like the idea of changing the existing paradigm. What aspects of the experience felt meaningful to me: the vision of this WHOLE & the idea of being able to advocate for this cause & help things evolve. It may just be the beginning of the journey, but this information is already huge & could have a major impact on redefining the norm, provided it is spread widely. That's what this course does so thank you...”

“I was more than surprised to discover this week just how closely physical issues are linked to neurodivergence. Realizing that pain, digestive disorders or extreme fatigue (which I partly associated, and so did my doctor, with long Covid) might not be isolated problems but rather connected to a different body structure has completely shaken my beliefs.”

“I already had a bunch of people ask me if you're gonna give the course again.”

“And as far as content goes: I had suspected it before, but this course really validated and confirmed that neurodiversity is a whole-person experience, and not something that can be changed or accommodated or "fixed"! Without it, I would not be me at all, because everything about me would be different - mental, cognitive, physical, etc.! And all of these aspects of me being me, and us being us, are valuable! I am still processing, and I am still sad and angry about some aspects that I have discovered about myself and my life history and about other people's situations. But at the same time I feel like we are on a good path toward recognizing and valuing people who are different. We might still be in a bubble of only a few people worldwide who can hold the complexity of the good-and-bad, but it gives me hope going forward, and feeling more at home within myself.”

“thank you all for being one of these places that embrace all of who we are 💚🩵💛”

I wanted to say that I see how much like also emotional work is in this course because of the... I mean, it's also so much vulnerability because you share so many personal experiences. And you share them in a way that make me think that, oh, it's it's easy, like it's just like a story you tell or whatever. But actually, it's your real life. So that that is quite a brave thing to do. And I'm very grateful."

"I feel like, actually, I'm always getting emotional every week that we've had. But it's like the emotional in like a good way in, like a not not in a way that leaves me totally exhausted, but in a way that makes me feel like I'm releasing something."

"I think this alone, that you speak about your experiences. And we have this space probably already helps and like. If we also create space like this for others, then we can generally help people feel more understood, because, like I am actually very high masking"

"It was refreshing to see preference for routines explained through the concept of EF differences, rather than the more typical framing of 'rigid behaviours' and routines as a reaction to anxiety or uncertainty.", "I also liked how much of the Autistic traits discussed were viewed through the lens of Monotropism.", "I love that Autistic Inertia was covered. I feel that it's often overlooked when discussing Autistic adults", "It was helpful to see Burnout, Inertia, Meltdowns, and Shutdowns all clearly defined alongside each other", "Overall I really enjoyed Week 2. The topics were woven together well, recognising the significant overlap and interplay between them, and it was great to see how these different challenging experiences were framed in an affirming way that was informed by lived-experience and Monotropism."

"This week’s contents were incredibly helpful in making sense of my lived experiences as a neurodivergent person. They gave me the language and frameworks—such as autistic burnout, the Double Empathy Problem, and masking—to better understand patterns I had experienced but not fully recognised before. The material felt validating and affirming rather than deficit-focused. Topics like loneliness and minority stress resonated deeply, helping me reflect on my own experiences while reinforcing my motivation to support others. Overall, this week provided both clarity and reassurance that my experiences are real, shared, and worthy of understanding."

“I’ve really loved the course… you’ve pulled together something quite special, powerful, and very much needed.”
“Because of how the course and content was structured, I’ve gained a greater appreciation for neurodivergent whole-person health, rather than viewing things in isolation.”
“This course has helped me reflect on aspects of my lived experience I had largely blocked out, particularly experiences of loneliness and interpersonal violence.”
“It’s been a real joy to experience this course alongside [other participants’ names], and to witness their experiences on this journey as well.”
“Thank you everyone, it’s been a real pleasure!”

"I think this modality of asincronic [asynchronous] clases is the best for us on the other side of the globe. Thank you!"

"I loved how this course was neurodiversity-affirming not just in it's content, but also in it's design and delivery. Kana's approach of grounding each topic by sharing their own lived experience created a meaninful narrative thread from week to week, giving the course a real human voice.

What really stood out was how much the course covered, topics that are normally siloed into completely separate conversations were brought together in a cohesive way, with a real focus on how they overlap and inform each other. It provided a deep and rich picture of neurodivergent wellbeing.

Affirming, evidence-informed and authentic, I'd recommend this course to anyone without hesitation."

"The Neurodivergent community is across the world. Participation in the course has allowed me to interact with people in other countries. I have learned we have much in common and will continue to learn from future interactions."
