On Friday, July 28, I attended a meeting for the announcement of selected applicants for the Academist Prize cohort, 2023-24 academic year.
Eight people were selected for the Academist Prize to join their cohort for the coming academic year, and I have been awarded 1st place for my research/advocacy work. What was particularly encouraging for me was that the Japanese staff at the Academist and judges supported my desire to make the world a better place for neurodivergent (henceforth ND) people and their families.
As I had learned much about ND minds in the UK, I was appalled by the lack of understanding and support for ND people in Japan. The biggest reason why I want to challenge the Academist Prize is because I want to share cutting-edge neurodiversity-affirmative research and its evidence-based knowledge on ND minds in Japanese society. This is hugely important to reduce the stigma towards ND people and to make society a better place for them and their families. By joining the Academist Prize, I am hoping to share my research and knowledge with Japanese society and ultimately to improve the understanding of ND people in Japan.
On August 1, I joined their introduction meeting for my cohort group. Of course, I joined them with Levi and Léa🐰🐻
